International Human Resources Management in MNCs: challenges and tensions
This publication seeks to study the issues related to implementing an international HRM policy. Given that this is an innately multifaceted topic, the study uses a cross-functional lens through which to identify commonalities between corporate policies as well as to draw lessons for those seeking to learn more about internationalization. Based on a series of testimonies from international HR managers and state of the art academic research, this publication highlights the main tensions running through international HRM policies, both pre-Covid and during the current health situation. Conducting an international HRM policy implies making choices, negotiating, and sometimes even managing paradoxes, all of which give rise to both challenges and opportunities. This publication examines the skills needed to implement an international HRM policy and highlights the main roles of the relevant key actors responsible.
